Al Aziz

Al-Aziz

The Exalted in Might

Exalted and Glorious

The know that Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise. (2:209)

Truly Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.  (2:220)

But men have a degree of responsibility over them.  And Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.  (2:228)

And Allah is All-Mighty, All-Able of Retribution.  (3:4)

Verily, Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise. (8:10)

Certainly, Allah is All-Mighty, All-Able of Retribution. (14:47)

Verily!  You are the All-Mighty, All-Wise. (2:129)

Such is the measuring of the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing.  (6:96)

Verily, your Lord – He is the All-Strong, the All-Mighty.  (11:66)

For Allah is the highest description.  And He is the All-Mighty, All-Wise.  (16:60)

Verily, your Lord will decide between them by His Judgment.  And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing.  (27:78)

This name is derived from the word which means dignity, majesty, and power.  Allah holds command over the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is between them.   His hand is over all His works.

One who repeats this name 40 times after the morning prayer for 40 days will not only become self sufficient, but will be independent of need from others.

Al-Aziz alone has strength.  Outwardly He is not overtaken by any strength.  He has power over everything.  If you desire strength in both worlds, obey the Aziz as He says, “Strength is for Allah, and the messenger, and for the believers.”

Allah Allah Allah

From: The Meanings of the Names of Our Lord by Shaykh Muhammad Sa’id al-Jamal ar-Rifa’i Head of the Higher Sufi Council in Jerusalem and the Holy Land Teacher at the Dome of the Rock (al-Aqsa)

AL-‘AZIZ

He is the Victorious One whom no force can overwhelm.  There is no strength in this universe that can stand before this will.  Al-‘Aziz appears often in the Holy Qur’an in relation to verses of punishment.  Although Allah’s power is victorious over all, like the true victor, He delays punishment.  He does not hurry to destroy the one who persists in revolt and sin.

A person who leads a life obeying Allah’s orders to become strong and invincible, but refrains from exercising his strength, and is not vengeful, reflects the beautiful name of al-‘Aziz. We may find the traces of al-‘Aziz in ourselves if we are able to suppress the demands of our ego and flesh and to satisfy our lawful needs through clean, honest, lawful means.  If we stay within the limits of wisdom and clear-sightedness in all our thoughts and actions, we may see our portion of Allah’s attribute of al-‘Aziz.

‘Abd al-‘Aziz is the one whom Allah has rendered safe from all attacks, while granting victory over all opposing powers.

If a person who is needed by people in need recites ya ‘Aziz for 40 days after morning prayers, he will not need help from anyone, and will be able to help others.
