Al-‘Aliyy
The Sublime
Exalted and Glorious
His Throne doth extend over the Heavens and the earth and He feeleth no fatigue in guarding and preserving them, for He is the Most High, the Supreme (in Glory). (2:255)
We said: “Fear Not! For Thou indeed hast the upper Hand.” (20:68)
They are but vain falsehood: Verily God is He, Most High, Most Great. (22:62)
They will say that which is true and just; and He is the Most High, Most Great. (34:23)
But such as come to Him as Believers who have worked righteous deeds, for them are ranks exalted. (20:75)
Saying: “I am your Lord, Most High.” (79:24)
This attribute of Allah means eminence, greatness, supremacy, grandeur and loftiness. Allah is Sublime and Omnipotent. He is Superior and above everything in Divinity.
He whose faith is weak and he repeats this name 33 times, his faith will become sound and correct, and he will reach his destination. This name benefits whoever carries it written upon his person and recites it as often as possible.
Al-‘Aliyy is the One of High Rank Whose description does not do Him justice. He is beyond competitors or opposers. All exalted meanings are established in Him. So be humble and be meek between the Hands of your Creator.

AL-‘ALI
He is the Highest One. Allah is higher than the whole of the created universe. This does not mean that His highness is closer to the high mountains, to the stars above, to the higher intellects, or to the ones who occupy high position. Neither is He further from the deepest depths and the lowest of the low. He is close to every atom of His creation in all places, and closer to human beings than their jugular vein.
As His essence and attributes do not bear any resemblance to the essence and attributes of His creatures, so His nearness and farness and His being high cannot be measured by the limits of human intellect.
He is higher than the unimaginable heights. None resemble Him. He is higher than all perfect attributes in power, knowledge, judgment, and will together. Al-‘Ali is He who is highest by Himself, in Himself, in the qualifications that applies only to Him.
Some, with good will but lesser mental and spiritual comprehension, think of Allah as a Being residing in high heavens on His throne, and imagine Him as if king of a vast kingdom, ruling the universe through His agents, officers, priests, and potentates.
Allah Most High has no place, for He is the place of all places.
He has no times, as He is the time of all times.
He needs no agent to act in His name.
He is the highest in the sense that He is above and encompasses all that has been, all there is, and all there will be.
‘Abd al-‘Ali understands that the highest among people are those who believe themselves the lowest. He knows that to be Allah’s servant is the highest station in which a human being can aspire. The gift of humbleness makes him virtuous and generous, and he supports and helps all those around him. Thus he is valued and considered by all as the highest among them.
This Name benefits whoever carries it, written, upon his person, and recites it as often as possible. If he is poor, he will be richer; if he is troubled, he will be better; if he is lowly, he will be higher; if he is lonely in exile, he will soon come home among those who love him.
