The Fatiha is the opening chapter of the Qur’an. It is recited as part of as-salah, obligatory 5 times a day prayer. It is one of the first prayers you need to memorize. It not only opens the Qur’an, but it also sets the intention to open your heart. I was taught to say the Fatiha when beginning almost anything. I especially use it when beginning healings or spiritual practices. Sidi devotes a whole chapter in Music of the Soul to explaining its deeper meaning, line by line. To listen to Fethi Benhalim, recite it slowly, Slow Fatiha.

maliki yawm ad-din – Master of the Day of Judgment
iyyaka na’budu wa iyyaka nasta’in – You alone do we worship and You alone do we ask for help (seek refuge)

sirat al-ladhina an’amta ‘alayhim, – The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favors
