Self Healing using the Qur’an

Surahs/Verses to use for General Healing

  • Suratu-l-Fatihah 1:1-7
  • Suratu-l Baqarah 2: 255 Ayat al kursi (1 ayat)
  • Suratu-l Baqarah 2: 285 and 286 (the last 2 ayat of Surah Baqarah)
  • Suratu-l-Iklas 112:1-4
  • Suratu-l-Falaq 113:1-5
  • Suratu-n-Nas 114:1-6

Directions for Using these Qur’anic Verses

  • Repeat the surahs/verses 7 times each because the Prophet (SAWS) repeated verses for healing and supplication 7 times.
  • Recite these to yourself in an audible, slow and melodious voice paying attention to their meanings, as much as possible.
  • It is recommended to repeat each of these surahs/verses 7 times in the morning upon awakening and 7 times at night before going to sleep.
  • At other times of the day, whenever you can, listen to a slow recitation of al-Qur’an and reflect on the verses you are hearing because understanding their meaning is also a cure.

You can listen to and learn more about the Qur’an from other web sites.  I recommend itajweed.net to listen to the recitation, and see both the transliteration and English translation of the verse.  This site uses the Qur’an transliterated by A. Nooruddeen Durkee.  For the Baqarah verses go to the Special Ayah Section.  You will find the Throne Verse 2:255 and Under the Signs of Protection, the 3rd one listed is al-Baqarah 284-286.  For all other  surahs, go to the Qur’an Index.

Another good source can be found at theonlyquran.  You can choose recitation with transliteration or English translation.  You can also choose a reciter.  Mishary bin Rashid Al-Afasy is the reciter on Shaykh Durkee’s site and is also an option at theonlyquran.
